Dr. William Montague Cobb Award Categories

Upon recommendation of the NAACP National Health Committee and approval of the NAACP National Board, The W. Montague Cobb Award was established in recognition of Dr. Cobb’s extraordinary social justice advocacy for more than 50 years. Dr. Cobb served as President of the NAACP from 1976 to 1983.

National

The Dr. W. Montague Cobb Award is presented annually to an outstanding individual by the NAACP National Health Committee, in recognition of special achievement nationally in the areas of health and social justice advocacy, health education, and promotion, or health fundraising and research. This award is presented to a selected recipient each year at the Annual NAACP Convention.

State

The Dr. W. Montague Cobb Award is presented annually by the NAACP National Health Committee to an outstanding state health committee chair, in recognition of special achievement statewide in the areas of health and social justice advocacy, health education and promotion, or health fundraising and research. This award is presented to a selected recipient each year at the Annual NAACP Convention.

Individual
